How To Travel Light Hacks

I wanted to share with you all my Travel Light Hacks. Through out my many travels I’ve realized there are things I need or wish I had and things I really didn’t need and it ended up just adding weight and taking up valuable space. This is updated every year due to my change in age, physical condition, and just personal preference but I still want to share it with everyone and I hope you find it helpful when making decisions while packing.

Traveling To Asia

Consider Bringing These On The Plane

1 Comfy Travel Slip-ons (These will be the same slippers you wear walking on the beach, or city streets in Asia. They can easily match jeans or khakis for an evening out as well.)

1 Thin Comfy Sweats or Athletic Style Sweats (Thin is the key word here. It will keep you warm along with the blanket provided by in flight at 38,000 ft.)

1 T-shirt

1 Pair of Compression socks (It will change your long haul flying experience.)

1 Pair of Cotton Boxer Brief

1 Breathable Windbreaker or Rain Fleece (If you know the places you are going rains a lot then you may need this.)

1 Pair of Sunglasses

If you’re flying economy – Neck Brace (It’s better than all the other weird things sold to help you sleep on the flight. This will keep your head from constantly falling forward which is why people can’t seep sitting up.)

1 saline nasal spray (The dryness of the air when flying over a long period of time internationally.)

1 facial mist or eye lubricant (If you’ve had Lazik or suffer from dry eyes naturally then you need this. The air in these international flights are very very dry. When you wake up at 38,000 ft you’ll thank me for packing these.)

1 facial moisturizer (It really helps to keep you feeling refreshed during these long flights.)

Carry-on roller packing list

With the packing list below. I can easily travel for 2-3 weeks. If you have clothing matching what I’ve listed below and are considering throwing them away, don’t! Bring it for your trips so you can “Wear and Throw”. This is also great because sometimes you can’t find any laundry facility or you don’t have the time to wait for a 3 day turnaround. Everything from old underwear with too many holes, socks with giant holes, jeans with ripped crouches, and shirts with rips or are just out of style can be “Wear and Throw”.

1 Carry-on Roller. It’s important to use a carry-on roller that has wheels on each corder making them 4 or 8 wheels depending on style. The carry-on roller should be light, hard side, extension handle should be sturdy, and stylish. This does not include a small pack for your important documents, that’s separate.

1 Cross Training Shoes (Are you a gym person? Perhaps you love outdoor excursions. Love dressy Ultra Lounges or a simple bar/ local club person. Bring the 1 pair of shoes accordingly.)

1 Button up shirt (Just incase you want to look presentable for some establishment.)

1 Pair of Jeans (Make sure it’s black, dark navy blue, or grey so you can wear it to a nice dinner. If your carryon is getting close to the weight limit, wear the jeans over your thin sweats until after weighing bag at check-in.)

1 Casual Shorts

2 Swim Trunks (Swim shorts allow you to not have to wear boxer briefs! Especially if your vacationing mostly for the beaches and pools, etc.)

3 socks (Since you’re wearing slippers the majority of the time, socks are for the nightlife, etc.)

3 Boxer briefs (Remember you’re wearing swim shorts for the most part.)

3 t-shirts (It is humid and rains a lot in Asia so I added regular t-shirts because there will be days, perhaps everyday, where you need to change your shirt twice a day. Simple shirts here. Nothing to make you stand out.)

4 Gym shirts (Stylish gym shirts are great to wear in Asia because they breath well, dry fast, and you can use it to get your work out on. Easy to wash and dry yourself. Just sayin.)

One thing that I used to shy away from but am now a true believer and user are Luggage organizer packing cubes. They save you so much time and make moving thing around your luggage a breeze when you’re trying to pack that extra item you bought on vacation and you need to bring it home.

Other Things To Consider

Sign-up for the Free Trial of Youtube Premium for 30 days and download all the videos you want to watch. This is great for viewing on the airplane, train, at the airport, etc.

If you are flying East, sleep and wake up 1 hour earlier for up to 7 days before your flight.

If you are flying West, sleep and wake up 1 hour later for up to 7 days before your flight. Typically it’s very easy to adjust to the new timezone when flying West because we can always sleep and wake up later.

Be sure to watch the sunrise at your new destination to adjust your sacrarium rhythm.
